“I was post-divorce and wanted to embrace my inner goddess"
When M reached out to book a boudoir session, she was in a season of transition. She was newly post-divorce, and she wanted to do something beautiful to embrace and celebrate the life she was creating for herself in this time of change. M had done a boudoir session many years ago while living in another state, and she was excited to capture the emotions and themes of this new life chapter.
When planning her session at my Minneapolis boudoir studio, M hoped her pictures would feel powerful, feminine, and dramatic, sprinkled with moments of joy and sensuality. As M put it, “I was post-divorce and wanted to embrace my inner goddess. My goal was to feel strong and I accomplished that goal. I felt super comfortable and welcomed!”
M wore a wide variety of outfits during her boudoir session, capturing the many facets of her personality. An inspiring amount of confidence shines through in all of her portraits. She started the session wearing a gorgeous kelly green power suit, which worked great for capturing some personal branding portraits. Next she wore just a pair of green lacy underwear with nothing on top. I love how such a simple outfit communicates so much strength and power.
Boudoir wardrobe inspiration
One of my favorite outfits M brought along was a beloved fun cocktail dress, with a low back and slit on the side. This is an outfit M feels fabulous in, and these portraits turned out feeling extra editorial - as if they could be on the cover of a magazine! A common misconception about boudoir photography is that it has to involve lacy lingerie, but in reality, any outfit you feel fabulous in is perfect for boudoir!
To pay homage to her Texas roots, M also wore a favorite cowboy hat and cowboy boots, which added such a unique pop of personality. For her final look, M wrapped up in a sheet for a series of implied nude portraits. The goddess energy is extra strong in these photos!
