Capturing authentic joy and empowerment at my Minneapolis boudoir studio
This client found me online while looking for a boudoir photographer in Minneapolis. She resonated with my empowering approach to boudoir and my emphasis on doing boudoir as a self-loving gift for yourself. She was in a season of life where she felt really proud of herself, her family, her career, and who she is becoming as a human, and she wanted her boudoir session to be an opportunity to pause and celebrate herself - which I loved!
When planning a boudoir session, I often suggest to clients that they begin by noticing which types of boudoir portraits they feel most drawn to. As this client looked at examples of my work, she resonated with my classic boudoir portraits that felt natural, strong, powerful, and full of joy. She also liked the idea of integrating some artful and storytelling moments into her session.
On the day of her session, this client arrived at my boudoir studio in Minneapolis and started the session wearing a mix-matched bra and underwear set paired with a cozy cardigan from my studio layering wardrobe. She also brought a favorite mug and book, and I photographed her reading on the bed, sipping tea, and relaxing. These pictures have such homey, storytelling weekend morning energy.
Next she wore a sheer, mesh bra and underwear set that had cool, geometric lines and straps. This look felt very dramatic and modern. I photographed her in front of my fabric backdrop as well as looking into the standing mirror in my studio, and I love the self-loving, reflective energy these portraits exude.
While wearing a lacy black robe from my studio layering wardrobe, I photographed this client in front of my black wall backdrop and captured a series of more modern, minimalist boudoir portraits where the focus is on her expression, her energy, and the lines of her body. I love how luminous and magical these portraits feel. Her authentic joy is so palpable!
