An artistic, end of summer photoshoot at my Minneapolis boudoir studio

Toward the end of summer, I had a series of incredible flower boudoir sessions. I love the flowers that bloom in the late summer-early fall (dahlias, marigolds, sunflowers, and more!), and the creative energy flowed in abundance during these sessions!

Adrianna’s flower boudoir session was one of my favorites from the season, and I’m delighted to share her pictures on my blog. I’ve photographed Adrianna twice before. Her first session back at my old studio had cozy, soft, and romantic energy, and her second session a year later felt relaxed and effortless. For her third session, Adrianna was in a new season of life filled with beauty and transition. She had gotten married, moved, and felt really proud of the life she had been cultivating that is now blossoming around her. For her most recent session at my South Minneapolis boudoir studio, she wanted her portraits to carry the same sense of joy and buoyancy she loved about her previous boudoir portraits, with an added sense of artfulness and depth to document the confidence and creativity she felt in this life chapter.

Boudoir wardrobe planning

When picking out outfits for boudoir, Adrianna settled on a handful of outfits that had clean lines and felt simple, strong, and modern. She began the session earring a stretchy caramel-color slip from my studio layering wardrobe. Next she wore a set of emerald green high-waisted bottoms with a matching bralette that brought incredible richness into her pictures. She also wore a light blue ribbed cotton bra and underwear set that felt cool and minimalist. Adrianna was especially excited to wear a long-sleeved sheer dress with pearls, which she had worn on her wedding day. I love seeing what meaningful pieces clients integrate into their boudoir wardrobe!

Types of boudoir photos

Adrianna’s session held a multitude of moods and types of boudoir photographs. Some classic boudoir moments felt laid-back and joyful, and some more minimalist moments exuded powerful, confident energy. Adrianna also wanted to integrate artistic figure detail pictures into her session along with a variety of modern, sculptural images we created by draping fabrics from my studio rafters. We incorporated seasonal flowers throughout her session, and their bright colors added an incredible sense of emotional depth and richness.
