Warmth, emotion, and body lines: A minimalist approach to boudoir photography

Artful, simple, sensual: these were a few of the words L used to describe her boudoir vision. When looking through examples of my work and the types of boudoir photography I love to create, L felt most drawn to my figure detail photographs and minimalist aesthetic. She loved the idea of using blank walls, windows, and the floor of my studio as clean backdrops– letting the focus be on the natural art of body lines, light patterns, and shadows.

L started the session wearing one of the sheer, flowy white shirts from my studio layering wardrobe. In line with her vision, this look felt very organic, sensual, and minimalist.

L also brought along a favorite black slip of hers. I photographed her sitting on the floor in front of my lime wash wall and black backdrop. The lace of her slip created a beautiful, feminine texture that looks luminous against these sleek backdrops.

For her final look, L chose to do a series of implied and fine art nude portraits. Standing in front of my silhouette panel and textured brick wall, these photos are striking – full of emotion, warmth, and beautiful body lines.

L’s portraits have a subtle yet powerful undertone of sensuality, self-love, and groundedness.
