Candice's Colorful, Soulful Boudoir Portraits

Candice came to the boudoir studio at a really powerful time in her life. In the last year she had really come a long way in her own personal journey and viewed this as a gift to herself and a gift to her body.

When Candice and I started planning for her session, we talked about her ideas for how she wanted her portraits to feel - she wanted pictures that would feel sexy and empowered. A big part of her personal journey held the themes of strength and confidence and she wanted that to shine through, while also highlighting her silly and happy side. She brought so much color and light and power into these portraits, and I love all her inspirations!

From the very beginning Candice knew she wanted to include her epic vintage windbreaker. It is not something I would have ever thought to include in a boudoir session, but to this day it is one of my favorite unexpected wardrobe pairings. She layered the jacket over a rust colored bra and high-waisted bottoms. It was so perfect for her, and I love how the colors came out and combined with the textures to create really joyful art that is anything but generic.

Candice’s wardrobe was full of texture and movement that helped to create different feelings and expressions in her portraits. Beyond the windbreaker, she brought a pale rose-colored bodysuit, a soft longline bralette paired with jean shorts, a happy yellow lingerie set, a plaid flannel, and a black lace lingerie set that she combined with tights in some photos and a stocking and garter belt set in others.

Hayley from Hayley Sachs Artistry did Candice’s hair and makeup. Her vibrant hair was half pulled up with soft texture added to the down pieces. For her makeup, Hayley looked at all of her fun, whimsical wardrobe pieces and suggested they do a colorful eye liner. It is a subtle element and the pop of color really comes through in some of Candice’s close-up portraits.

We created portraits bursting with personality and let Candice’s joyful spirit come through with so much life. Her pictures are colorful and fun and hold such depth and soul in a way that feels really true and authentic to her.
