Sarah’s Romantic, Soft, Easygoing Boudoir Portraits

Sarah reached out to me about doing a boudoir portrait session together after she found my Instagram and Facebook profiles!  She is a graduate student and true adventurer who loves traveling. Sarah shared that she was getting married soon, and said that she loved the idea of doing a boudoir session both because she was excited to give pictures of herself to her fiancé as well as to capture something beautiful for herself-- a time capsule of this moment in her life. She loved the idea of this being her first boudoir session, and potentially coming back for another boudoir portrait session in another season of life, an idea I adore!

Whether you do one boudoir session or a dozen, these portraits really have the power to take you back to a particular moment in time. With that in mind, my goal is always to approach boudoir photography in a holistic way. While boudoir photography is certainly about your body, it’s also about who YOU are! I talk to all of my clients about what they love about themselves, what they’re proud of in life, where they came from, and where they’re going. I can see all of these feelings and experiences captured in their pictures, in their energy, in their expressions, in the way that they hold themselves -- in everything! I love when clients come in with the mindset of their portraits being a time capsule of where they are in this current season of life -- we’re already on the same page about the art we’re about to create!

Sarah’s Style and Boudoir Session Inspiration

Stylistically, Sarah was really drawn to what I like to call a “Sunday morning vibe” -- a mix of a romantic, soft style and a casual, easygoing vibe. She loved the idea of bringing a mix of lingerie and cozy loungewear to her session, and her outfits perfectly emulated the romantic and relaxed aesthetic she was aiming for.

Before her portrait session, Sarah shared with me about how much she loves the tattoo of an olive branch on her arm, which has super-special meaning to her. I ask all of my clients during our planning phone call what their favorite body features are so that I can try to show those off and make sure they are amazing focal points in their portraits! With Sarah’s tattoo being on the inside of her arm, it would’ve been easy for me to miss or overlook when I was photographing her, but being given this heads-up allowed me to make sure it came front and center in some of her portraits - and I love the personality it brought into her pictures.

Sarah’s Boudoir Session Wardrobe and Outfits

One of my favorite outfits that Sarah brought was a pair of high-waisted jeans paired with a bralette. I love mixing everyday clothing with lingerie or a bra or underwear -- it just feels so chill and easygoing. She rocked a similar aesthetic when wearing an a sweater with a pair of black bottoms -- it feels casual and cozy and fun at the same time. Sarah also totally rocked a bright red lingerie set, which provided such a great pop of color in her portraits! She has such an adventurous spirit, and I feel like you can really feel this spirit exuding from her pictures.

Sarah, it was SUCH a joy to spend the day capturing your warm, brilliant energy in these portraits. You are such a positive powerhouse of a person! I truly loved getting to know you -- thank you so much for sharing your wonderful spirit and soul with me! I hope we’ll get to work together again to capture another season of life - and until then, sending you all the best energy!
