“K’s” confident, casual boudoir session
“K” was referred to me by a friend of hers who did a previous boudoir session with me, which I love - it’s always such an honor when past clients send their friends to me!
When we first talked, “K” told me that she hasn’t always enjoyed having her picture taken in the past. She talked about past experiences she’d had being photographed where she’d found the process to be stiff and uncomfortable.
Even though she’d had uncomfortable experiences with photography in the past, “K” wanted to do a boudoir session as a way to celebrate her own personal journey! She was getting ready to celebrate a special birthday and wanted to do something just for herself, which I really love.
As we talked about what sort of energy she wanted to bring into her boudoir session, “K” talked about the idea of having acceptance and celebration for herself, honoring her body as well as the personal journey she has gone through. She also talked about the idea of resiliency, which she said had been a really important word for her during 2020 as she navigated a lot of ups and downs in her life. “K” shared with me that she believes that things don’t have to be perfect in order for us to appreciate them. What a powerful, amazing sentiment -- and it’s so true!
“K’s” boudoir style
When we talked about her vision for the session, “K” said that her personal vibe is very relaxed and casual. She also said that she was a bit of a boundary-pusher and loved the idea of pulling in some bold energy into her portraits!
“K” has a bob-style haircut and decided to style it herself before her boudoir session. She opted for professional makeup and was super excited to have it done! She chose to have a cat-eye done with a slightly bolder lip.
“K” brought so many playful, statement-making wardrobe pieces to her session! One look that I really loved was this sheer, dusty peach bodysuit that had a flowy top portion. It felt really romantic and grounded at the same time.
“K” also brought this straight-cut lace bandeau with matching underwear that she wore a garter with. The look felt really strong and bold while still having a hint of delicateness.
Towards the end of the session, “K” brought out this really soft, flowy deep blue v-neck bodysuit that made her eyes absolutely pop. She also wore another bodysuit with a polka dot mesh overlay -- it had so much fun personality to it.
I love “K’s” expression in these photos -- she looks so confident.
These two photos were taken only a moment apart and really go together! The light is so beautiful and soft coming in behind “K,” and it feels like she is just basking in her self-love.
These two portraits feels really artsy and hourglass-y to me.
“K’s” words
“I’m not someone who enjoys having my picture taken. I’m usually very self-conscious and get scared to be myself. I honestly didn’t have any of those thoughts while in the space with Alyssa. I was so comfortable and at ease, and I think the pictures show a true me.
“Even though the photos weren’t photoshopped, it felt like I was seeing an idealized version of myself. The pictures are absolutely beautiful - I saw myself in a way I never had before.
“I loved everything about the whole experience. It was amazing self-care.” -“K”
“K,” it was such a joy to spend the day creating these boudoir portraits with you! I absolutely love the confident, casual, self-loving vibes you brought into your session. Thank you so much for trusting me with your portraits -- it was a really fun day, and the style and energy you embody made your portraits turn out so incredible!
