Jawana’s joyful, confident, celebratory boudoir session

Jawana and I connected over Instagram last year! She lives here in Minneapolis and recently launched an amazing plus-size lingerie shop called It’s a Lavish Thing. 

When we initially connected, Jawanna talked about her passion for inclusivity, for representation, for awesome lingerie options for people who wear plus-size lingerie, and how excited she was to fulfill the need of providing a space where all of these beautiful things intersect. It’s been so cool to follow Jawanna since then and see her shop blossom – and if you're someone who’s looking for plus-size lingerie, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting her website! 

We really wanted these pictures to celebrate Jawanna and her incredible personality. She’s in a really exciting, powerful season of life, and I hope she always remembers how special this year was when she looks at these pictures. She wanted her portraits to feel confident, joyful, and full of life, and I think these pictures beautifully embody those vibes!  

Jawana’s boudoir session

Of course, Jawana had wonderful outfit options to choose from! She brought in a super fun mix of pieces, and I think the textures and colors really sing in her portraits. Jawana started the photoshoot by wearing an incredible black lace-paneled bodysuit. 

Next, Jawana transitioned into a white fishnet and lace body stocking that fits like a slip. (I love how this outfit looks against the brick!) 

For her third outfit, Jawana wore a really beautiful longline bra and bottom set in white textured lace. She paired this outfit with a silky pink robe for a few portraits, which had a really feminine feeling! 

Jawana also wore a richly-colored lace lingerie set – I love the elegant, confident tone of the red in these pictures. 

Finally, Jawana ended the session in another really cool, strappy tan-and-black bodysuit that felt striking and dramatic!
