A cozy maternity boudoir session in Minneapolis

When I work with returning clients, I love hearing about what themes or styles from their previous session still feel relevant and what has changed that clients want to honor or celebrate this time around.

C’s first boudoir session with me was all about celebrating herself and her own personal growth. When she returned for her second boudoir session with me, she was pregnant and in a totally new head and heart space. She still wanted her pictures to feel natural and very “her,” yet she also wanted these portraits to feel cozy, tender, and connected, celebrating how her body was preparing her to usher in new life. She chose several outfits that fit her vision, including a comfy sweater and jeans, a favorite sports bra with leggings, and two bra and underwear sets she felt very herself in, complemented perfectly with a cozy cardigan.

What it’s like to do boudoir for a second time

After her session, C shared these powerful words: “This was my second session with Alyssa and it was so different than my first. Not only was I pregnant this time around, but I knew what to expect and also wanted to touch on a different vibe in the photos. Aiming for grounded, cozy, and happy, Alyssa shared her ideas when I arrived at the studio and, having already established a relationship with her, I knew that her ideas would capture what I was looking for. From there, I was able to just relax and let her lead the way.

My photos turned out so beautifully and I am so glad I splurged on this type of maternity shoot for myself. It feels like a real gift to both me and my baby and I know the photos will always serve as a reminder of this very special season of life.”
