"A love letter to my body"
I met Greta through a referral from another client. She had never had a formal portrait taken of just herself, so doing a boudoir photoshoot felt like a very novel and special experience for her. She was delighted to carve out a whole day just for herself, and on the day of her session she arrived at my Minneapolis boudoir studio with an inspiring amount of excitement and courage to trust the process.
Greta also participated in my Dear Body project, so as part of her session she wrote a love letter to her body that I incorporated into some of her portraits. Her letter, entitled “A love letter to my body,” truly made me weep. Greta reflected on how she didn’t feel practiced in this level of vulnerability and self-love, as it was not a norm she was raised with, but she felt a yearning to practice and embrace this depth of self-compassion in this current season of life. I get goosebumps when I read her letter, and I hope something in her honest, heartfelt words resonates with you too.
After her photoshoot and portrait reveal, Greta told me how this one session really shifted how she talks to, feels about, and views herself. Her reflections on her boudoir experience brought tears to my eyes all over again. She wrote: “This was truly an amazing day for me. I was made to feel very comfortable and welcome when I arrived. It seems almost unbelievable, but this one day has changed my feelings about myself immensely. I have a more positive body image and am gentler with myself. It was a real game-changer!”
