Kiersten’s Intentional, Strong Boudoir Portraits
Kiersten came to the boudoir studio as a way to do something kind for herself and her body. She was referred to me after being struck by how natural and bright a friend’s photos were that I had taken in the past. I always love when clients refer their friends and was so psyched when Kiersten reached out!
When we first chatted, Kiersten and I talked about what she was really proud of in her own life recently, and a theme that kept coming up was taking time to be intentional for herself. She wanted her session to be a celebration of her full life and inner strength, and I feel like that totally came across in her photos.
Kiersten extended that same intention to planning the outfits she brought along. She has a creative eye and really loves the contrast of light and bright with darker, bolder colors, and she let that shine through with a mix of dark and light colors, soft textures and subtle patterns that created a feeling that was soft and casual, yet dramatic and cool.
Hayley of Hayley Sach’s Artistry did Kiersten’s hair and makeup. Kiersten loves how her slightly wavy hair reflects the light, so Hayley played up her hair texture to create a natural look that let her soft, healthy hair shine.
Kiersten knew she wanted to wear her glasses for all of her pictures and Hayley was very thoughtful about planning her eye makeup in a way that fit in well with the shape and color of her glasses. I am always so amazed by all the elements my hair and makeup artists think through for clients.
Kiersten was so excited when she came back to the studio to see her pictures. After her session, she wrote up a little summary about how she felt seeing her pictures so I’d like to share her words here:
“When I saw the photos after our session, I began to cry. I was and am so grateful to Alyssa for helping me see the beauty in my body that can be difficult to see in the mirror at home. The session was really empowering and energizing! I have kept the photos to myself as a reminder to practice more self-love, which often means being kinder to myself when I look in the mirror and altering my inner monologue. Alyssa took the time to learn more about me and she found amazing ways to put who I am into the art!”
Kiersten, thank you for bringing your intentional, celebratory energy into the studio. I was so inspired by your focus of being intentional with yourself and am so glad we had the chance to create art together.
