Boudoir as a Gift: 7 Really Celebratory Ideas!
While I’m not always on board with the gift-mania that can happen as Valentine’s Day approaches, I do love that holidays can be a motivation to make a boudoir session happen, and there are so many ways that boudoir photos can be an incredible gift to yourself and to your partner. Today I’m sharing a few stories about not only creating art with your boudoir portraits, but giving the gift of the boudoir experience.
Here are a few stories about boudoir gifts that really inspire me:
Stacy’s session was a gift from her husband, who said “I think my wife would love to do a boudoir session, and she deserves it, I don’t even care if she shows me the pictures, if she does, great, but I want her to be able to celebrate herself.” I love this so much!
Brittany wrote me a lovely note after our session. While she was so excited to share the gift of her photographs with her partner, what really inspired me was this: “Selfishly I am more excited that I did this for myself. I think becoming more comfortable in my own skin will be a even better gift for our marriage.”
Carly set out to create some bridal boudoir portraits, but what she really wanted to give herself was the gift of time during this hectic season of her life. Time to slow, down, be mindful and celebrate the moment. I’m honored and inspired when clients choose to care for themselves in the studio.
Wondering how to create art with your portraits to give as a gift? Here are some ideas:
A super-pretty box of photos
Since boudoir photos capture an intimate side of you, folks often want a more discreet way to share them. Enter the portrait box. These beautiful, undeniably special boxes can be filled with as many photos as you like and presented to a partner (or kept for yourself on days you need to remember how incredible you are!)
The Walnut Box
Handmade by master woodworker David in his West Virginia workshop, these lovely boxes are made of sustainably-sourced walnut with lovely details like maple-spline corners. They’re warm, weighty and make such a lovely, significant setting for your photos.
Silk and Linen Boxes
A sleeker, modern option is a silk or linen box. Made by an artisan collective in Oregon of sustainable fabrics, these boxes can be embossed with a name or significant phrase that makes it a really personal option for gifting.
A nightstand folio
For a simple, elegant way to display your boudoir photos, I love a nightstand folio. These elegant, foldable frames made of silk or linen fit handily on a bedside table (but stow away easily should you need.) They’re a meaningful way to remember the gift of boudoir each day.
An album
Finally, and perhaps most classically, an album of your boudoir photos is a wonderful way to tell the story of your experience. With leather or linen covers and substantial, thick pages, the album we create together can capture all that you felt in the moment. While they make a wonderful gift for partners, I also love when my clients choose albums of their favorite photos for themselves!
The gift of a session
I am so passionate about everyone creating space to celebrate themselves. The Illuminate Boudoir experience is one epic day to slow down, to be in the moment with yourself, to celebrate everything you love about your body and spirit and, perhaps, to create an unforgettable gift for yourself or someone you love.
