How to choose outfits for your boudoir session + my all new wardrobe guide
Does choosing outfits for a boudoir session intimidate you?
If you are like most of my clients, you have at least a few questions about what you should wear for your session. Wardrobe is the #1 topic I get questions about from my clients, which is logical: we’re not used to dressing for photoshoots (especially in our underwear), and it can be intimidating to decide what to wear.
Here’s my ultimate boudoir outfit test
When considering an outfit for your boudoir session just ask yourself these questions:
Does it feel true to you?
Do you love how you look in it?
If you answer yes to both of these questions, the outfit is a winner! Wear it, love it, be true to yourself, and love yourself. Honestly, it can be that simple. There really are no rules when it comes to what to wear for a boudoir session.
Still have questions?
I created a guide to answer some of the boudoir wardrobe questions that I hear over and over again, and to help you get a clear sense of your options as you’re planning what to wear for your boudoir session. My goal is simply to give you information that will empower you to make choices that feel true to who you are.
A boudoir photographer’s guide to lingerie
In the guide I’m covering my most frequently asked wardrobe questions and sharing my favorite lingerie styles (and non-lingerie choices) for boudoir. I’m also breaking down the sometimes-confusing lingerie options with everyday lingo, and talking through a variety of bra and underwear styles and how they photograph. If you’re looking to choose an outfit that celebrates one of your favorite features - that’s covered in the guide, too. Plus, I’ve included my go-to shopping suggestions!
What else to wear to a boudoir session
Not into lingerie, or just want to have some variety in your wardrobe choices? That’s totally cool. In the guide I go beyond lingerie and highlight my favorite layering pieces, and I’ll invite you to look in your closet and jewelry box to find things you already own to create a boudoir session wardrobe. I’ll also ask you to consider how much skin you’d like to show and imagine a range of options - choosing whatever place on that spectrum you feel most comfortable.
Ultimately, what you wear for your session should reflect who you are, and what you love about yourself, at this moment in time.
