What to do in Minneapolis after your photoshoot
I love offering my clients a full-day boudoir session experience. After your morning photoshoot, you’ll get the afternoon to yourself before you return to the studio for your portrait reveal. I always tell my clients to do something lovely in the afternoon don’t go in to work, don’t do chores — do something fun and special just for yourself. :)
If it’s been awhile since you had an afternoon totally to yourself, or if you’re not from the area and are looking for some ideas of how to spend your afternoon, here are a bunch of my favorite suggestions for things to do nearby - I love living in Southeast Minneapolis because there is so much to do nearby! Almost everything here is within a 10-minute drive of the studio. :)
Cafes for lunch, coffee, and an afternoon of reading
Fireroast Cafe - half a block away from the studio! I love their Flower Power latte with lavender and vanilla, and their breakfast burrito is super satisfying
Turtle Bread Longfellow - lovely cafe vibes with soups/salads/quiches/coffees
SunBean Coffee Co - a delightful new coffee shop near Lake Nokomis with light bites to snack on
Take yourself out to lunch
Tiny Diner - Amazing locally-sourced food. If it’s nice out, I like to sit on their patio and have the Macro Bowl, cheese curds, and a cocktail. (gluten-free options, vegan friendly)
Reverie Minneapolis - entirely plant based and entirely delicious! Great coffee and kombucha too (vegan, gluten-free options)
All Square - yummy grilled cheese sandwiches, and they’re a very cool social enterprise - a great spot to support
Sonora Grill - tasty mexican food, fun patio! (gluten-free options)
Himalayan - super delicious Tibetan, Nepali, and Indian food
Activities
Moon Palace Books - cozy vibes, super helpful staff - a great spot to browse and relax!
Take a yoga class - One Yoga and Up Yoga are my two favorite studios in town (I recommend scheduling yoga class ahead of time)
Get a massage - I love going to Artemis Brown (they/them) at Constellation Acu to help my shoulder tension and migraines, or a trip to Salt Spa when I’m looking to relax and feel fancy (you’d need to schedule a massage appointment ahead of time).
Minneapolis Institute of Art - They have rotating additional exhibits but general admission is always free!
Watershed Spa - an amazing new bathhouse in the north loop! Their bath ritual is luxurious and grounding: you get to spend a couple hours cycling between saunas and pools. (I recommend scheduling a bath/spa appointment ahead of time)
Walk & explore a park - Minnehaha Regional Park and Lake Nokomis are two of my favorite spots nearby. I love taking a walk around the parks/pathways or bringing a book and blanket and relaxing for awhile.
