“A’s” light-filled, glamorous boudoir session

“A” was so lovely to work with! She had been following me on Instagram for a while and booked a session last November. Because she booked her session for this summer, she had a long time to dream and plan for her session!

When we began talking, “A” shared that she had been considering doing a boudoir session for a while. She said that while doing a boudoir session was something that felt outside of her comfort zone, she really wanted to do it for herself. I totally commend her for this! I hear this sentiment from clients often -- that doing a boudoir session feels a bit scary, but in a really good way -- and really admire the courage it takes to step in front of the camera.

Like a lot of my clients, “A” has had negative experiences being photographed in the past and really wanted the experience of creating pictures of herself that she loved. She said that she really wanted her photos to feel relaxed, lovely, and special. I don’t mean to spoil the ending… but I think we totally nailed it!

“A’s” boudoir session day

“A” began her boudoir session day with pro hair and makeup styling, which she said felt like such a treat! She has long hair with a beautiful texture that a stylist from SM Hair + Makeup played up.

There are so many beautiful photos from “A’s” session! She gave me permission to share a few of the more anonymous photos from her session, and I think it’s a really fun mix.

“A” said that she had a great time picking out her outfits for the session. She had a couple of bra and bottom sets with lace detailing, including one in a beautiful seafoam green color. She also had a black set with a subtle butterfly detail in velvet on the bottoms.

“A” also brought a flowy white top that she wore off of her shoulders with a pair of cheeky bottoms. We finished her session with a look using one of my white studio sheets.

The final picture is one of my favorites -- it’s such a lovely implied nude! You can see the outside curves of her hips and her shoulders, and the light is so soft and pretty. It feels really artistic and true to her.

When I showed “A” her portraits that afternoon, we had SO much fun! “A” was so excited that she loved so many of her pictures. It is always such a wonderful compliment when my clients love their pictures, and seeing “A’s” happiness when viewing her portraits for the first time made for the perfect ending to our day together.

“A,” it was so lovely getting to work with you! You have such a warm, fun, kind presence, and I think it really radiates in these pictures. Thank you so much for trusting me with your boudoir portraits -- you are so beautiful, inside and out!
