Taryn's Relaxed, Strong Boudoir Session

After learning about boudoir photography from friends who’d done their own boudoir sessions, Taryn came across me online and reached out to learn more! In my first conversations with Taryn, we talked a lot about her sense of openness, comfort, and contentment with herself. She loved the idea of letting boudoir be a space where she could feel comfortable and proud in her body. I felt so energized and excited to work with Taryn and create pictures that would help her relish her body and see it in a new light.

How Taryn chose boudoir outfits that brought out her personal style

Taryn loved the idea of having some pictures channel a “Sunday morning vibe” (relaxed, cozy, warm) while having other pictures show a really strong and powerful style. She wanted her pictures to show the different facets of who she is without feeling overly soft.

Taryn chose a wardrobe that really set the stage for this calm-yet-strong balance to emerge. She wore a white lingerie set in some pictures and used a white sheet draped around her body in another look, both of which felt relaxed and light to me. These pictures really emphasized her comfort and confidence being in her skin. In contrast, she wore other outfits with really deep colors, including a leather look and a black bodysuit with mesh (and some seriously amazing boots!). These outfits felt more powerful and dramatic to me. Taryn also brought a cozy gray cardigan that really hit this sweet spot between the two energies that she wanted to channel in her boudoir session.

Balancing Taryn’s two styles

To me, the coolest part of Taryn’s pictures is how Taryn’s two different styles (casual/relaxed and powerful/strong) feel totally cohesive and balanced together. All of Taryn’s pictures feel confident, empowered, and genuine to who she is, even though she played with two different styles during her session. I think her full personality really comes across with this mix of relaxed, effortless pictures and confident, empowered, powerful pictures.

Taryn put her hair up in a messy bun for a few pictures, which I loved -- it felt super relaxed and strong.

I love the beautiful light that’s falling around Taryn in this picture. She just radiates confidence.
