J’s Strong, Soft, Sexy Boudoir Portraits
“J” thought about doing a boudoir session for a long time before finally reaching out to schedule a session with me. With her upcoming wedding, she had just the motivation she needed to give boudoir a try in this season of life, which is similar to so many people who I talk with when planning their boudoir sessions. For folks who’ve been considering a boudoir session for awhile, a wedding can be a lovely motivation to finally make a session happen - plus, your boudoir portraits can make an incredible wedding gift for your partner.
J mentioned to me that she was a little nervous to book a session because boudoir feels so personal - and she’s right, it absolutely can be vulnerable and a little nerve-wracking. One thing she said that was really helpful for her were the reviews and testimonials on my website. She said that hearing the stories of other folks who’ve gone through her shoes gave her the courage to make a session happen, which was awesome to hear - because that’s exactly why I put reviews on my site! I am so glad it made the difference for J, and helped her feel safe and ready to make a session happen.
“I want to see myself the way my fiance sees me”
The self-love inspiration behind her portraits
J is really proud of the career she has built for herself. She is in a profession where she works hard at taking care of other people constantly, and through her boudoir session, she was able to turn that care inward towards herself, and that was a magical experience to witness. She talked about wanting her boudoir portraits to give her insight into how her fiance sees her - we talked about how her fiance makes her feel beautiful, but how it can be hard sometimes to see that for herself. She wanted to create portraits that would feel strong, soft, and sexy, and give her space to foster love for herself. What powerful inspiration!
How J expressed her strong, soft, and sexy inspiration through her wardrobe and styling
J brought along a great variety of outfits and colors to reflect her ‘strong, soft, and sexy’ style inspiration. I love how strong, confident, and powerful she looks in these portraits of her wearing her red lingerie set. They are so self-loving and fun, and brought in a strong energy to her collection. Then we have some moments that feel really soft and a little bit more cozy and casual, especially the portraits of her in her sweater and deep blue lingerie set. She also brought a dramatic, elegant energy with her black lace nightie from Flirt Boutique, with its amazing lace detail on the sides.
Kelsey of The Hair Badassery styled J’s hair and makeup and delivered on a promise to create soft curls with some messy volume. She also wanted a pretty light and natural look with her makeup, some eyeliner and mascara but otherwise she wanted it to feel relaxed and true to herself.
J, thank you for trusting me in this intimate space of creating boudoir portraits. It was an honor to celebrate your many motivations for a session with you! These portraits are so full of strength and self-love, and I’m so happy that we were able to make something so beautiful. Thank you for trusting me to help document this chapter of your life! I’m so grateful we met.
