M’s artful, effortless, and self-loving boudoir portraits
M decided to do boudoir because she wanted to do something celebratory just for herself. She had been thinking about boudoir for a long time, inspired by a friend of hers who had a really positive boudoir experience, so M was delighted when it came time to schedule a session of her own. M was in an exciting season of life where she felt able to see and savor the self-compassion she had worked hard to cultivate over the years. She wanted her photoshoot to celebrate the intentionality she had poured into building a life full of self-acceptance.
M envisioned a boudoir session that felt candid, confident, effortless, and everyday. She wanted portraits that emanated gentleness and strength, documenting different facets of her personality. To achieve this vision, M brought an array of beloved pieces of clothing to her boudoir session. She started the day wearing one of her favorite bras paired with a mismatched bottom, which felt very homey and easygoing. Next she wore a long, deep blue boho dress she adores that added bright, vibrant energy to the day. M then wore a favorite pair of jeans she paired with a cream button-up blouse, creating a unique spin off the classic flowy white boudoir look. She ended the session with a series of implied nude portraits that added an artful, sensual tone.
M’s Boudoir Portraits
There are so many artistic lines in this next portrait of M. With M’s fingers gently pulling on her shirt, I love all the interesting shadows and highlights this portrait depicts, especially the strong line of her collar bone.
I love the artistic asymmetry this next portrait holds, and how calm and effortless M looks as she plays with her hair.
M loved the idea of ending with a series of implied nude portraits that incorporated artful compositions and figure details. The array of warm color tones and interesting straight lines in this portrait give it a calm, confident feel.
