Laura’s self-loving, intentional, celebratory boudoir session
Hello, friend! I’m so honored to get to introduce you to Laura today and to share a few photos from her really special, self-honoring session.
When she first reached out to me, Laura shared that she’d been considering doing a boudoir session for a couple years. She’d learned about Illuminate Boudoir from a friend who’d previously done a boudoir session with me.
Laura shared that she was really excited about the idea of doing something to show gratitude to herself after going through a really challenging year. To her, doing a boudoir session was a way to intentionally take time to create joy and beauty. She told me that finding joy and beauty in unexpected places had been a big part of how she navigated the difficult moments from the past year.
In essence, Laura loved the idea of celebrating herself, her resilience, and her body. She was so excited to do something special for herself -- and it was really, really magical to get to be a part of.
Laura’s boudoir session inspiration
During our first phone call, Laura said that she’d had a ton of fun browsing Illuminate Boudoir’s page on Pinterest and taking the Boudoir Style Quiz! She knew that she wanted her photos to feel relaxed, feminine, and confident. After exploring Pinterest, she was able to reference and guide me towards specific clients I’d worked with in the past whose sessions she admired - which I found super fun and helpful! I always love talking about client's inspirations and ideas so that I can help make their session super authentic to them, and it was really fun to hear what kinds of pictures resonated with Laura.
In terms of wardrobe, Laura wanted to have a mix of casual, relaxed clothing and feminine, romantic lingerie. The outfits she brought to her session were such a beautiful balance of colors!
While I loved all of the outfits Laura chose, a couple of pieces really stood out to me! I really liked the red bra and bottoms set she brought; they were a great pop of bold and rich color, giving a lovely depth to her photos. I also really liked the white linen shirt she brought along. The fabric is a little bit sheer, allowing light to seep through in a really pretty way in her photos. (Laura mentioned that she loves to wear it when traveling, so it’s also got a bit of personal significance to it!).
Laura was really excited to have her makeup and makeup done. She requested minimal, “summer glow” makeup that would allow her freckles to show through. She had her hair styled in a way that kept her natural volume but added in a bit of texture and wave.
Laura’s boudoir portraits
Overall, I think you can really feel how much this experience meant to Laura by looking at her photos. These pictures have such a sense of inner light -- they’re filled to the brim with self-loving radiance! Laura really took the time to honor the journey she went through, and the pictures that resulted feel so celebratory and special.
Laura, working with you was such a true honor and delight. I really admire the intentionality you take to caring for yourself and processing the challenges you’ve faced, and I’m so in awe of your strength and resilience! Thank you so much for trusting me with your boudoir portraits.
