“K’s” joyful, vintage-inspired boudoir session
“K” booked a session after following along with my newsletter for a while! She said that she’d been thinking about doing a boudoir session for some time and loved how much Illuminate Boudoir as a brand values body positivity (which made me so happy to hear)!
“K” shared with me that she’d had a challenging relationship with her body at times. She also shared that she’d had negative experiences being photographed before -- and she was really excited to change that! She was ready to do something that might feel a little vulnerable and outside of her comfort zone, but that she believed would ultimately feel so, so special and celebratory.
“K” is a self-described “fighter!” She is someone who really cares for other people in her personal and professional lives. She has a ton of inner strength and has really been on this journey of growing and strengthening her inner confidence and sense of self. She is just an incredible person both towards herself and others.
“K’s” boudoir style
“K” rocks a vintage-inspired style in her everyday life, and she loved the idea of bringing a classic, glamorous flair to her boudoir portraits!
“K’s” hair and makeup choices really supported her vintage aesthetic. For her hair, she chose glamorous curls with a bit of volume that looked striking in photographs. She also went for a bold red lip and dramatic, slightly cat-eyed eyeliner.
For her wardrobe, “K” started her session with a casual, comfy sweatshirt paired with black bottoms. It was a super lovely, easygoing look to start the session with!
“K” brought a slip that she’d gotten from Flirt Boutique. It had black lace detailing on the top and a silky, pale pink bottom. It feels so classic and glamorous to me!
“K” also chose a white lacy bodysuit that she paired with a white robe. She also brought a strand of pearls that she loves to wear in her everyday life, and she mixed those into a bunch of her boudoir looks!
We ended “K’s” session with some implied nude portraits. I especially love the last two portraits; “K” just has this huge smile, and it feels so full of life and like she’s really present for herself.
To me, all of “K’s” portraits have such a sense of inner confidence and joy to them! “K” really loved a lot of the portraits where she was laughing and smiling; she said that they feel very much like her, which is exactly what I was hoping to capture with my camera.
“K,” you were such a true joy to work with! I love how you mixed your everyday style into these portraits -- they feel so authentic to who you are. Your confidence and inner happiness just glow in your pictures! Thank you so much for trusting me with them.
