Jess’s warm, special, celebratory boudoir session
Hello friends! Today I get to introduce you to Jess and share some portraits from her boudoir session!
After learning about boudoir photography from a past client of mine, Jess reached out to me with the idea to do a boudoir session as a way of commemorating a new season of her life. Jess shared that she had recently gone through a heavy transitional period and had worked hard to craft a new chapter of her life that she felt really good about. She was ready to do something special for herself to celebrate the new, exciting things on the horizon for her!
Like many of my clients, Jess shared with me that she often doesn’t really like photos of herself. She said that she’d much rather be behind the camera than in front of it! With this in mind, Jess said that she wanted to give herself the opportunity to feel really good in her own skin and to see that reflected in portraits that would forever feel special to her.
Jess’s casual, feminine boudoir style
Jess liked the idea of having some photos taken in a more casual, relaxed style while having other photos taken in a slightly more dramatic style. She was so fun to collaborate with; I could totally tell how creative she is! She was really open to trying out suggestions I offered and creating a shared vision for her boudoir session.
Jess brought a mix of casual and fancy pieces to her boudoir session. She began the session wearing a deep red slip that felt really vibrant yet soft. For her next look, she layered a grey cardigan over a lace bra and high-waisted bottom set. Next, Jess wore a beautiful white eyelash-lace bodysuit from Flirt Boutique, a local lingerie store. We finished the session by taking some implied nude photos with a sheet. I find that implied nudes often end up being clients’ favorites -- they feel so special! -- and Jess’s portraits were no exception.
These two photos pair so well together! The first photo has a real sense of space with the brick wall in the background, and the next image feels so relaxed and happy.
Jess, thank you so much for trusting me with your boudoir session! Your session and the portraits that we created together are so special -- what an incredibly beautiful way to celebrate all of the wonderful things that are on the horizon for you. It was such an honor to work with you, and I am so so grateful that we got to create this art together!
