Tracey: a boudoir session for her 55th birthday

While I truly believe boudoir can be for any occasion, sometimes it takes a milestone moment to say yes to boudoir. For Tracey, turning 55 was just the impetus she needed to book a boudoir session at my Minneapolis studio. She had been dreaming about doing boudoir for years, and her session felt so self-loving and celebratory!

Tracey wanted her portraits to feel feminine, beautiful, and authentic. When planning her boudoir wardrobe, she decided on a collection of outfits that captured different facets of her personality. She started the session wearing a colorful dress that felt like a fun, going out look. Next she wore a lacy blue lingerie set paired with a sporty jacket that added a pop of personality. Tracey also wore a gorgeous periwinkle nightie with soft, feminine details. For a more dramatic look, she wore a sleek black body suit with scalloped lace and a tie accentuating her waist. For her final look, she wore a sheer robe that felt simple, ethereal, and so lovely.

tracey reflects on her positive boudoir experience

After her session, Tracey shared a beautiful reflection about her boudoir experience. Here’s what she said:

“I have wanted to do a boudoir session since 2020 and finally decided to book one. I, now, regret that it took me so long to do so. What an incredible experience. Alyssa guides you through the session; before, during and after. She makes you feel comfortable starting with the initial call to looking through your photos post session. Even with her guidance, I was still nervous - until I walked into her studio.  It was at that point when I knew I chose the right place, the right person, and the right time to document this part of my life in print.

I have such a greater appreciation for my flaws. I no longer focus on them.  Alyssa was able to highlight me, my body, and my personality through her photos.”

Boudoir photos as a gift idea for yourself

Wearing an everyday outfit for boudoir, like this colorful dress, can be such a fun way to add a pop of personality and capture photos that illuminate your authentic self.

With soft lighting and Tracey’s strong gaze, this portrait feels both ethereal + full of power.

Tracey is glowing in this light. Her bright smile and open posture feel so joyful and self-loving.

I also love this romantic-feeling boudoir portrait of Tracey, capturing her stretched out and looking so at ease.

Gazing at herself in front of the mirror with one hand on her hip, this boudoir portrait feels full of confidence and power.

I love how the light hits the edge of Tracey’s hip, creating such a soft, ethereal feeling boudoir portrait.

The lighting in these final portraits of Tracey feel so magical. I love how her sheer shirt paired with the luminous sunlight streaming in the windows created soft lines, highlights, and shadows on her body.
