Adrianna’s relaxed, creative, and elegant boudoir session

I’m so excited to introduce you to Adrianna! Adrianna was referred to me by one of her close friends who I had previously photographed. I absolutely love when I get a referral; it’s such a fun connection, and truly the best compliment!

Adrianna shared with me that she has had the idea of a boudoir session in the back of her head for quite some time. She loved the idea of doing something for herself that felt sort of special and different from her day-to-day life. She is a creative person, an art lover, and loves supporting local artists (which made my heart so happy!) and I think you can really see her creative energy come through in these portraits!

I love this photo! Adrianna looks so happy and cozy with her coffee. There’s nothing like a little laughter to infuse some joy in a picture!

Adrianna’s boudoir session inspiration

Adrianna said that she was excited for her boudoir portraits to be “for her and about her,” which I loved. She shared with me that she was coming out of a period of time that had been really tough, and now felt that she was really connecting with herself and her body. She saw her boudoir portraits as a way of showing herself appreciation. There’s a lot of resilience in her story, and I think that her sense of inner strength really shines through in her pictures.

Adrianna wanted to create a ‘Sunday morning glow,’ and a “natural, elegant, and romantic” vibe in her pictures. While she didn’t want her portraits to feel super dramatic, she did want a sense of strength and empowerment in them. She also said that she wanted her portraits to have an undertone of feeling sensual and sexy while still feeling really natural, relaxed, and comfortable.

Adrianna chose such cool pieces to wear for her boudoir session, including that seriously awesome twisted-back sweater! She has such a happy expression here -- this photo has a wonderful carefree vibe to it.

I loved the color of Adrianna’s turquoise bodysuit (plus, bodysuits are just always so fun to photograph!). The lace really gives off these lovely romantic vibes, and her pose displays a sense of inner confidence. I love how the colors of her outfit…

Looking and feeling comfortable in pictures

During one of our first conversations, Adrianna told me that she didn’t want to feel awkward or look vulnerable in front of the camera; she really wanted to look comfortable. One of my core values as a photographer is that if you feel comfortable, you will look comfortable in pictures, and if you feel like yourself, you will look like yourself!

So when my clients say that they want to look like themselves in pictures, I always tell them this is exactly why I’ve structured my boudoir session days the way I have. I want it to be a relaxing, calm process; I don’t want anything to feel rushed, stressful, or pressed for time. I want to make everything about your experience feel calm and easy so that you can relax and feel like yourself, which then leads your pictures to look really comfortable and true to who you are.

I also give a high level of direction and guidance throughout photoshoots -- I completely pose my clients and help them understand exactly what to do. My clients always say that this helps them feel super comfortable (which then helps them look comfortable and confident in pictures).

Oh, this picture really feels authentic to who Adrianna is. Her tattoos are highlighted by the sunlight streaming in behind her, and her expression is really self-assured and calm.

Adrianna’s wardrobe

Adrianna chose a boudoir wardrobe with a really fun mix of colors and textures! She really loves pairing pinks and magentas with turquoise, and you can see that in the color palette she brought along. Adrianna mixed a cardigan with a bra and underwear set, creating a warm, cozy, easygoing look. She rocked a magenta bra and bottom set that felt vibrant and energetic! She brought a pinky, creamy-colored sweater with a twisted back which photographed in a really cool way.

Adrianna also brought an awesome soft turquoise bodysuit that she paired with a light, floaty robe. She also brought along another robe that was a darker color and had a floral pattern on it, which brought some really fun personality to her pictures. We ended her session with an implied nude look, with Adrianna wrapping her arms around herself, with tons of sunlight streaming in behind her.
