Maddie's Natural, Soulful Outdoor Boudoir Portraits in Colorado
Maddie reached out after just recently moving to Colorado. She expressed that where she is at right now feels like where she is supposed to be - that moving to Colorado almost felt like a homecoming. She loved the idea of doing an outdoor session in her new home and using it as a way to explore some new areas and document this season of her life.
Maddie wanted pictures that would feel casual, relaxed, and natural in a strong and empowered way. She loves her long hair and the idea of incorporating some movement and breeze seemed fitting, all in a setting of lighthearted adventuring outside.
To keep it true to her day-to-day self, she opted for a minimalist wardrobe and styling approach. She wore a vintage-inspired lingerie set with a sweetheart top and high-waisted bottoms that she paired with a denim button-up. The button-up added some fun personality and also gave her more coverage with the option to pull it over her shoulders if other hikers were nearby. She also wore a lace bodysuit that she paired with a long floral robe and a sheer sleep romper in a light blue color with lace and a partially open back.
We started her session at Brainard Lake in Ward, CO - walking through some pine trees with rich green color that contrasted wonderfully with Maddie’s creamy lingerie set. I love how the sun peaked out for this beautiful image of Maddie stretching her arms overhead - she almost looks like she is dancing! It feels so carefree with the sun glowing behind her.
Maddie dreamed of incorporating mountains into her portraits and this serene lake was perfect because we could see the mountains in the background. The movement of her robe in the water is really lovely and these portraits in her bodysuit on the shore feel so elegant and natural.
For another setting, we also spent some time in a nearby park with more of a foothills vibe. We were up on part of a mountain with soft grassy fields and pine trees in the background. These portraits of Maddie in her romper feel happy and relaxed with a sense of adventure, and I love the soft colors of the earthy greens.
Maddie, thank you for exploring my dream of outdoor boudoir with me! Your flexibility and spontaneity made this a session to remember, and I am so proud of all the ways we could incorporate your love of nature and your lighthearted, kind energy into these pictures. Thank you for welcoming me to your new home in Colorado!
